Girls Competitive Team
*Our optional team practice Monday-Saturday 4-6 hrs per day.
*Compulsory girls typically practice 3 days per week, 3 hours per day.
At Gold Cup, we offer the TOPS program for our gymnasts. The girls typically practice 2 mornings a week and focus on the required strength and flexibility skills for this program.
TOPs (Talent Opportunity Program), is a talent search and educational program for female gymnasts ages 7-10 and their coaches. During the months of June and July gymnasts age 7-10 are evaluated on physical abilities at the state or regional level.
From there, athletes are invited to participate in the National TOP test that is conducted in the month of October where they will be evaluated on the same physical abilities tests along with some basic gymnastics skills.
Girls Compulsory Team
Our optional team program is highly competitive in the state of New Mexico and the United States. We have had several Regional and National Qualifiers over the years, as well as girls who have received college scholarships.
The optional team practices Monday-Saturday. A minimum of 15 hours to 25 hours per week is spent in the gym. We offer early morning workouts for our upper level gymnasts and Saturday workouts to problem solve skills. Our team is very structured, as we place a high emphasis on our strength and flexbility. We teach proper technique in all aspects of strength as well as execution of gymnastic skills.
One of the most notable gymnasts to come from Gold Cup, Tory Wilson, recently finished her very successful college gymnastics career as a Utah Ute. Seven time all-american gymnast and 2014 Pac-12 Gymnast of the Year, she Hit 154-161 (96%) career routines. A truly phenomenal record as a gymnast.
